Favourhoods is a travel platform designed to help users decide where to stay in a city by providing curated neighbourhood-level recommendations.

Instead of relying on scattered travel blogs, forums, and booking platforms, the system offers a structured city-based neighbourhood guide to simplify accommodation planning. We focused on developing a structured WordPress-based platform that improves destination discovery and makes it easier for users to compare areas within a city.

Key Challenges

Fragmented travel accommodation decision-making

The platform’s content structure made it difficult to clearly organize and present neighbourhood-level recommendations within each city, limiting usability and consistency across destinations. As a result, there was no clear system for structuring city-to-neighbourhood relationships, which made it challenging to maintain a consistent information hierarchy as new destinations were added.

Additionally, the multilingual setup introduced structural complexity, as content needed to remain consistent across English and German versions without breaking layout or meaning. This further increased the need for a more structured and scalable content architecture.

Therefore, the core challenge was to redesign the information structure so that neighbourhood-level recommendations could be presented clearly, consistently, and in a way that supported future expansion.

Solution Approach

Structured neighborhood discovery

We restructured the platform around a city-first, neighbourhood-focused content model to improve how destinations are organized and presented. This created a clearer structure for showcasing neighbourhood recommendations within each city. Dedicated city pages were introduced to standardize neighbourhood-level content, allowing users to easily compare areas within each destination. This improved content hierarchy, navigation clarity, and destination discoverability.

The multilingual system was refined to ensure consistent content delivery across English and German versions without affecting structure or usability.

Finally, the platform was optimized for performance, responsiveness, and accessibility, ensuring smooth browsing across mobile and desktop devices, especially for content-heavy travel pages.
